Industrial Chimneys are an essential component of many manufacturing facilities. However, their weight and the mechanical stresses to which they are subjected require highly advanced support solutions.
Structural Design
As part of the revamping of the Spilamberto plant in the Province of Modena, owned by the Farpro group, LMSteel Consulting was in charge of the Basic and detailed Structural Design, 3D BIM modeling and construction design of the support structures of the H35m chimney height and related foundation civil works on piles.
The BIM process for multidisciplinary design
The Farpro group has recognized the importance of embracing the Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach to address these challenges in an innovative way. BIM allows you to create detailed digital models that incorporate not only physical geometry, but also information regarding materials, construction phases and more.
With this operational approach, LMSteel Consulting has developed the finite element calculation models (FEM) with the Straus7 software, and the 3D BIM geometric models with Tekla Structures up to the creation of the workshop drawings.
Tekla Structures is known for its ability to create highly detailed and accurate 3D models, enabling engineers and designers to get a complete and clear view of the project. Using Tekla Structures allowed LMSteel Consulting to integrate detailed data into the model, including structural details, materials used and construction sequences.
