Arched Steel Bridges - Verona/Padua high-speed rail line

As part of the Verona-Padua High Speed/High Capacity railway project between PK 7+657 and PK 13+725, LMSteel Consulting was in charge of the "design for manufacturing" construction planning of 3 Arched Bridges called " FIBBIO”, “ILLASI”, “ALPONE” and the n. 5 spans in incorporated beams for a total of 5000 tons of metal carpentry.

The project is part of the Turin-Milan-Venice HS/HC line and is part of the Mediterranean Corridor of the Ten-T network (core network), the strategic trans-European transport infrastructure that reaches from Spain to the Hungarian border with Ukraine.

Connecting Verona to Padua with high speed means completing the railway connection between Milan and Venice, serving 75% of the Italian population with fast trains, and completing a fundamental piece of the Ten-T corridor.

The overall project crosses 22 municipalities (8 in the province of Verona, 10 in the province of Vicenza and 4 in the province of Padua) and is divided into three functional lots. The route of the new HS/HC line originates from the Verona Porta Vescovo station (not included in the project) and ends in the Padua station, near the interconnection junction.

The tracks will mainly run alongside the historic Milan-Venice line, with the exception of a stretch of approximately 22 km along which the new line departs to avoid crossing the inhabited center of the municipality of San Bonifacio.

The estimated investment for the construction of the work is €4.8 billion, of which €2.7 billion for the First Functional Lot to be completed by 2026

LMSteel Consulting provided the construction engineering services following the RFI project specifications and supporting the General Designer in the study of the launch phases.

The project was developed by creating the numerical models of the temporary structures with SAP2000 and the 3D BIM geometric models with Tekla Structures.

BIM «Design for Manutacturing» con TEKLA Structures

We develop complex projects in BIM methodology using the TEKLA STRUCTURES (Trimble) software of which we have 14 active licenses. We have acquired the BIM project management skills. We are qualified as BIM MANAGERS according to the ICMQ certification of Milan in accordance with the specifications of the UNI 11337 standard.

We develop complex projects up to the "Design for manufacturing" and construction management phase with the "paper saving" objective, keeping the digital models updated up to the as-built.

We collaborate with companies and professionals pursuing the maximum collaboration and the perspective of data sharing by creating interchange files in .ifc4 version and in-cloud models through the «Trimble Connect» or «Navisworks» manager.

We are available to builders to create workshop and assembly plans according to their guidelines with the aim of saving machining costs, aligning with CNC machines, progressing activities according to phases of material purchase, machining in the workshop, construction site phases.
