Ennio Flaiano Bridge Pescara

In the city of Pescara, the supra-municipal level services are distributed (parallel to the coast) in a linear manner from north to south.

To avoid the problem of excessive traffic flows in some points, it was necessary to give greater continuity to the North-South Road network interrupted by the river. The new bridge fits into this context and improves accessibility to services in a purely urban area of ​​this part of the city. It is a functional structure, capable of qualifying the place as another “centre”, destined to develop the city as polycentric.

The bridge, which received popular approval for its architectural contribution to the city skyline, was named after Ennio Flaiano, a well-known figure born in the Adriatic capital.

Built in 27 months with a total cost of 13 million and 100 thousand euros, with approximately 8 million euros financed by ANAS, the bridge was inaugurated on 15 June 2017. Dimensionally, the bridge is 28 meters wide and 85 meters long.

Alongside the designer of the work, LMSTEEL Consulting sagl has developed detailed construction engineering, proposing the types of welded and bolted connections based on the optimization of the production process. In addition to 3D BIM Design for Manufacturing modelling with delivery of workshop plans, at the request of the assembly team LMSTEEL has defined all the launching equipment and assembly sequences with indication of the types of lifting, elevations and capacity of the mobile cranes.
