“Molo 8.44” Steel Bridge - Vado Ligure
The new viaduct is located south of the town of Vado Ligure close to Savona, and is part of a new road link that passes over the track of the port railway connection and, remaining adjacent to the road system upstream of the "Molo 8.44" shopping centre.
This bridge is metal carpentry work with a total length of about 105 m, consisting of 6 spans of 17.50 m each, which overlaps the railway link present to the east of the "Molo 8.44" shopping center
The condition that determines the altimetric trend is represented by the constraint of having a franc on the top of steel (T.O.S.) equal to at least 5.20 m, while the planimetric trend has sections in curve e counter curve necessary to avoid interference with the existing commercial building located at sea compared to the railway.
To limit the structural dimensions in order to keep the level within acceptable values, the section cross section of the work consists of a concrete steel deck with n. 5 stiffened metal beams from transverses with collaborating upper slab in reinforced concrete 25 cm thickness.
LMSTEEL Consulting sagl was involved for Structural detail design and weldings re-calculation, 3D BIM modeling "Design for manufacturing" and the construction manatement of the steel members.
The project was developed by creating FEA models with Straus7 and IdeaStatica and geometric 3D BIM models usingTekla Structures.
