STAC platform
Ituango is Colombia's largest hydroelectric project. A water plant with a total capacity of 2,480 MW, able to satisfy 18% of the national electricity demand. With the expansion project, the Hydraulic Plant will have eight (8) 300 MW generating units. The transmission infrastructure includes a 500 kV substation and a 630 km (550 kV) transmission line that injects approximately 4,567 GWh/y into Colombia's SIN national grid. LMSTEEL Consulting sagl was commissioned by the constructor "STAC Strutture in Acciaio" of the executive design and construction drawing of the handling hoists, and of the lowering platforms in the ducts of the plant under construction. The mobile platforms, made up of 3 interconnected work surfaces, are used for welding between segments of the pipeline with a diameter of 6200 mm. The same are lowered into the ducts using the handling winch located at ground level. The activities were developed in the BIM process with the Tekla Structures software to verify the interferences with the existing structures, which were suitably detected and inserted as reference models. The workshop and assembly plans were delivered to the customer following the stages of transport by sea to Colombia.
