“ECO-HOPPER” Mobile Hopper 700 Tons/h
The mobile hopper is part of the equipment to be installed in the Port of Takoradi in Ghana as part of the expansion project of the dry material transport and storage terminal: bauxite, manganese, clinker, gypsum and limestone.
The Eco-Hopper Mobile Hopper features a top loading area, a reversible outfeed belt that will transfer the bulk material from the bottom of the hopper to the trucks via a telescopic chute or to the dockside conveyor with dedicated conveyor belt. The main parts of the Eco Hopper are as follows:
- Main Portal: It is designed to support all the equipment and to allow it to be moved along the wharf rails using trolleys placed at the 4 corners of the portal. The track gauge is 15 m. The supporting structure is made up of steel box welded beams.
- Hopper: The hopper is supported by a frame positioned above the portal. The inclination of the walls of the hopper is 55° with respect to the horizontal, the total height is 7.3 m and the opening dimensions are 7 x 7 m. There is a grid with flexible flaps to retain the dust and 4 filter groups.
- Extractor Belt: This is a reversible conveyor belt that moves the bulk material from the hopper towards a telescopic chute for loading trucks or towards the conveyor belt.
- Conveyor belt: This is a conveyor belt that receives the bulk material from the extractor and conveys the material towards the dock conveyor belt.
- Telescopic chute: it is a free-fall type, with a telescopic stroke and a total length of approx. 6.5m.
Suitable sliding plates or materials will be selected to reduce the friction of the most critical parts in contact with the material flow.
LMSTeel Consulting sagl was in charge of the Executive Structural Design, detail design for connections&weldings, the 3D BIM modeling "Design for manufacturing" and the Construction Management of the entire steel structure that supports the components, including stairs, horizontals and access paths and maintenance.
The project was developed by creating numerical models (FEA) with Straus7 and geometric BIM models with Tekla Structures.
