Étang footbridge [CFF underpass]

Étang footbridge [CFF underpass]

As part of the development of the Étang neighborhood in Vernier (Geneva), the “Sweet” mobility modification (pedestrians and bicycles) was designed to connect the neighborhood itself to the nearby Vernier train station. The new concrete prefabricated structure under the train tracks was installed with a pushing operation over the weekend from 27 to 30 October 2023, respecting the stringent project deadlines.

This operation involved the interruption of rail traffic between Cornavin station and Geneva Airport Station to allow the installation of a massive 600-ton structure under the railway tracks.

This public interest operation required rigorous planning by CFF employees and meticulous execution under the guidance of the Orllati company and its subcontractor responsible for the moving operation De Boer.

The operation began on Friday 27 October 2023 at 10pm and concluded successfully on Monday 30 at dawn. The 47 linear meter movement of the prefabricated underpass weighing approximately 600 tonnes took place as planned and lasted 80 minutes.

The structure, in fact, is located in a very limited position between the railway structures and equipment. “The positioning tolerance of the structure was on the order of one centimeter and the maximum distance between the structure and existing objects was a maximum of 5 cm. »

For this reason, LMSteel Consulting was in charge with the analysis and kinematic movement study of the pushing phases in order to create a digital model to validate and control on-site operations. The model considers the construction phases, excavations and backfilling, pushing and lifting equipment, track layout and interference with the railway and electrical cable ducts.

The project was developed by creating the 3D BIM LOD G geometric models with Tekla Structures and the video kinematics with Cinema 4D.

The commissioning of the Voie Verte is scheduled for the year 2025.

BIM «Design for Manutacturing» con TEKLA Structures

We develop complex projects in BIM methodology using the TEKLA STRUCTURES (Trimble) software of which we have 14 active licenses. We have acquired the BIM project management skills. We are qualified as BIM MANAGERS according to the ICMQ certification of Milan in accordance with the specifications of the UNI 11337 standard.

We develop complex projects up to the "Design for manufacturing" and construction management phase with the "paper saving" objective, keeping the digital models updated up to the as-built.

We collaborate with companies and professionals pursuing the maximum collaboration and the perspective of data sharing by creating interchange files in .ifc4 version and in-cloud models through the «Trimble Connect» or «Navisworks» manager.

We are available to builders to create workshop and assembly plans according to their guidelines with the aim of saving machining costs, aligning with CNC machines, progressing activities according to phases of material purchase, machining in the workshop, construction site phases.
